Free morning in Greymouth before we board the Tranz Alpine Train that takes us up over Arthurs Pass back to Christchurch for our final night - Ibis Hotel, Christchurch.
Day Six
The strange thing about Denniston is no matter what the season, it will be cold up there. Just 15 minutes up the hill, but it is like entering a different country. See the incline, hear the stories, feel the isolation. Read Denniston Rose to really understand this place. We then move south to Punakaiki, our lunch stop today, before arriving Greymouth, where we venture out to the treacherous Greymouth Bar and around the suburbs on the northern side of the Grey River, an area not usually frequented by visitors - Kingsgate Hotel, Greymouth.
Day Five
Day Five: Travelling south, from Murchison we follow the Buller Gorge all the way out to the ocean to our home for the night - Westport Motor Inn.

We fly from Auckland to Christchurch, to see the rebuild of this resilient city - Ibis Hotel, Christchurch.
Day Two
Day Two: Early morning we board the Coastal Pacific train which takes us up the East Coast, seal spotting, all the way to the maritime village of Picton. We join Ron in the SHIP n SHORE coach and travel around the beautiful Queen Charlotte Drive, alongside Pelorus and Kenepuru Sounds, through Havelock, over the Bryant Range and into Nelson - Delorenzos Hotel, Nelson
Day Three
Day Three: Morning Free then enjoy a Sailing Catamaran Harbour Cruise to the Nelson Boulder Bank (Lighthouse visit included), before moving onto to Takaka, which will be our base for the next two nights - Mohua Motels, Takaka.
Day Four
Farewell Spit 6hr Tour – you can only access the 35km length of the spit on an organised tour. Farewell Spit Nature Reserve is a bird sanctuary and wetland of international importance. We visit Fossil Point and Cape Farewell (the South Island’s most northern point) and the historic lighthouse near the end of the spit, often driving around seals and sea lions basking in the sun.
