Highlights

HIGHLIGHTS:  NEW YORK (4 nights) with two days of comprehensive sightseeing by deluxe motorcoach with Local Guide – Times Square, Empire State Building, Broadway, Rockefeller Centre, Grand Central Station, Tiffanies, Central Park, Wall Street, Chinatown, Skid Row, Manhattan Suspension Bridge, Brooklyn, the Battery where ferries leave for Staten Island.  We see the Statue of Liberty and pay our respects at the World Trade Centre 9-11 Memorial.  Free time in New York – suggest visit MACY’s, The High Line Park, both near our hotel.

We then board Cunard’s RMS QUEEN MARY 2 for her 8-day crossing of the Atlantic – one of life’s truly wonderful experiences.  Those who have seen the first Queen Mary at Long Beach, marvelled at her size and the fact that on each of her wartime sailings across the Atlantic she carried up to eight thousand troops, will be amazed to learn that our QM2 is twice her predecessor’s size but only carries a maximum of 2,700 passengers!  Luxurious, beautifully furnished staterooms; dine in the renowned Britannia Restaurant (plus 14 others!).

After disembarking Southampton, we travel to London via Salisbury (Medieval Cathedral, copy of the Magna Carta and world’s oldest (1386) clock), Stonehenge, Windsor Castle (Queen’s favourite residence), St Georges Chapel and State Apartments.

LONDON (2 nights) Sightseeing – Buckingham Palace, The Mall, Whitehall, Downing St, Regent St, Trafalgar Square and Nelson’s Column, Hyde Park, New Zealand House in the Haymarket, City of Westminster, The Abbey, Big Ben, The Embankment, Tower and London Bridges, St Pauls, Bank of England, the 1666 Great Fire of London column, and London’s monumental 19th Century Railway Stations - though our time is short, our guide, a Londoner, brings it alive for us.

Eurostar fast train from St.Pancras via the Channel Tunnel and across northern France to Gare du Nord (2 nights).

PARIS Guided City Tour - La Louvre, The Opera House, The Champs-Elysees, The Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame on the Isle de la Cite, and The Eiffel Tower.  Free time in Paris.

Hi-speed Rail from Paris to Dijon where we board our AVALON RIVERBOAT for an 8-Day CRUISE through France to the Cote d’Azur on the Mediterranean Sea.  All suite ship, fabulous French cuisine, Cruise the Saone and Rhone Rivers through famous French wine regions, and go ashore sight-seeing in the wonderful towns of Macon, Lyon, Tournon, Avignon, and Arles.  Disembark at Port St Louis, Marseille.

Coach Sightseeing – Cote d’Azur (Azure Blue Coast), City of Marseille, Toulon (where Airbus planes are assembled), then The French Riviera - Saint Tropez, San Raphael, Cannes, Juan-les-Pins, and the town, boat harbour and peninsula of Cap d’Antibes.  We overnight in Nice, before our Emirates A380 Airbus flight via Dubai (Airport hotel) to Auckland with Auckland home transfers.
